Designing your products

We accept various file formats that can be created by various programs. If you wish to design your own artwork on your own computer, please ensure the program you are using can export/save your artwork in any of the following file formats: EPS, PDF, TIFF, JPEG, PNG

Most of our home users use Adobe Photoshop to design their printed products, whilst most graphic design agencies that send us artwork use Adobe InDesign. If you want the best quality product, we would suggest either of these programs. Vector artwork created in Adobe Illustrator or other vector application will always produce the highest quality print and is what we would recommend.

No matter what program you are using to design your printed media, you will need to address the following issues: Resolution, Colour and Size. For best results, artwork should be created actual size, with a resolution between 350dpi and 600dpi. Always try and design your project using the CMYK colour mode rather than RGB colour mode. This will ensure colours that we print will look closest to the colours on screen.

If you are using Pantone colours within your artwork and colour matching is very important for you, you will need to advise us of this when you place your order. We will then do our very best to match your Pantone colours. We print all our products using a CMYK Euroscale Standard and our printers are calibrated regularly for consistency. IF YOU DO NOT WARN US THAT YOUR ARTWORK REQUIRES COLOUR MATCHING AT THE TIME OF YOUR ORDER, WE CANNOT ACCEPT ANY LIABILITY FOR COLOUR ISSUES RELATING TO PANTONE COLOUR MATCHING. The Pantone colour matching system is for professional use only and is not advised to clients that are not familiar with the system. Please note: There are some Pantone Spot colours which are unachievable to match in CMYK.

If your artwork bleeds off the edge of the project, please ensure you add bleed to your artwork. We require a minimum of 2mm bleed. So for example, if you're ordering an A4 Poster (297mm x 210mm) and the artwork bleeds off the edge, ensure you set your artwork up to the size of 301mm x 214mm.

Once you send us your artwork, we'll send you a PDF proof to the email address that you registered with us. We will not print your printed project until we receive written authorisation from you to do so.

Using HandyDesign to design your media

We have invested in the creation of an Online Designer to help you create high quality artwork for your project. We have called this HandyDesign. Please feel free to have a go at designing your own media using the designer, it's completely free to do so.

Just simply choose your product template from the list and click on the Design Now button, it's that easy! The designer will sort out everything for you in regards to resolution, size and colour. Within the designer you can view video tutorials and read up on the designer.

Choosing the correct material

The design of your printed project is obviously very important but something else that needs careful consideration is the choice of material on which your design will be printed. There are various factors that will affect this choice such as how long the printed materials will need to last, what sort of conditions they will be exposed to and the budget that is available for their production. If they need to be high quality then a thicker material would be best suited. Printed letterheads and other business stationery is available in both a coated and uncoated stock on various thicknesses. If the printed leaflets do not need to last a long time and price is the main consideration then thinner paper will probably be the most suitable material to use. For a flashier look that will get your online printing noticed you could consider a matt or gloss lamination. Companies looking for the most durable options should consider using the highest quality materials for longevity. Silk paper will be the ideal choice for an all round better print, feel and overall look.

The material and size of your online printing are all important considerations but what is actually printed on them is what our clients are most interested in. Some organisations have their own team of graphic designers and in this case they can supply us with the artwork that they wish to use and we will do the rest.
